Whenever I think I have reached the limit of what I am capable of, I find that if I am pushed, I can always dig down a little deeper.  I have the power to amaze myself when I dig down a little deeper.  The mind gives out long before the body, so I have embarked on a path of strengthening my will and practicing digging deeper.  I am beginning Crossfit.

I don’t have a Crossfit box gym nearby so I am doing it in my own garage/yard/home.  When I feel tired and think, “I need a break.”  I remind myself, “You don’t need a break.  You want a break.  Keep going!”

I am not very far into doing crossfit.  In fact, I have done a single WOD (Workout of the Day).  I am starting with the crossfit warmup (CFWU):

  • 2 min light cardio
  • 30 seconds per side samson stretch

2 rounds of (working up to 3 rounds):

  • 10 pushups
  • 10 situps
  • 10 pullups
  • 10 dips
  • 10 squats
  • 10 back extensions

That’s just the warmup.

I doubt that I will get into the heavy, olympic lifting.  I don’t have the equipment to do it or the storage space for the equipment.  I also don’t want to hurt myself by lifting without some sort of instruction.  I do have some rocks that need to be moved around, a yard that needs leveled, and garden dirt that needs shoveled.

For the next two weeks I’ll be doing the CFWU X2 as pre-conditioning before I launch into planning WOD’s.  As I get time, I am working on incorporating the Zone Diet into my eating. (Wouldn’t that be a good topic, Backpacking in the Zone.)  Maybe someday I will get to go to an official Crossfit boot camp at an official crossfit affiliate gym.  For now, I am just want to keep up with my 1 1/2 year old.
